This happened on Dutch television tonight, on Holland’s Got Talent semifinals.
This is the youth dance crew Reality. They perform a dance inspired by the life story of one of their members, Jimmy (the tall boy with the Macklemore haircut). Jimmy is gay, openly admitted to that on national TV (respect that, guys, he’s like sixteen and that takes so much guts), and this dance tells the story of the hardships he faced coming out.
You need to see this. You need to see this. This happened live on national television, on an extremely high-profile network show. I started crying around the 1:50 mark because I’d never seen something like that on a show like this before. It’s so loving and it’s so beautiful.
They could have chosen to just dance a general dance and blow the audience away by pure talent, but they didn’t. They allowed a gay teen tell his story on national TV, to show their support, to show that it’s okay to love who you love. They chose to allow two teenage boys to dance together. This happened, guys.
It’s beautiful. Seriously watch it. And know that they made it into the finals ♥
